Follow Safety Rules — The garage can be a treacherous place, filled with all the flammable fuels and sharp tools that we don’t want to keep in the house.  Make sure you take precautions to keep everyone safe.

Safety Gear — Please wear proper personal equipment (PPE) such as gloves, hard shoes, safety glasses, etc. while using power tools

Secure Shelving —  Make sure to anchor all shelving into the wall studs to prevent accidents and injuries (from earthquakes, or children climbing on shelves).

Hazardous Items — Store flammables and chemicals according to directions.  Read the warning labels carefully.  Chemicals and paint should be secured away from children.  Store sharps out of reach of children.  Always keep dangerous chemicals in their original containers.

Carbon Monoxide Detector — CO is a dangerous gas and a silent killer.  Install a CO detector in the garage to monitor the levels.

Fire Extinguisher — Always keep a working fire extinguisher in the garage.  They do expire, so be sure to check the date, mark your calendar(s), and replace when needed.
